Municipal Reconstruction Project of Urban Ring Road Passes Final Acceptance
After 14 months of orderly construction, the urban ring road reconstruction project successfully passed the joint final acceptance organized by the municipal construction authority on October 21, with all quality, safety and functional indicators meeting the design specifications and acceptance standards. This ring road serves as an important traffic corridor connecting the eastern and southern urban districts, and the reconstruction scope covers a total road length of 7.8 kilometers, including widening of main carriageways, reconstruction of interchange ramps, renewal of rainwater and sewage diversion pipelines, replacement of intelligent traffic signal systems, and renovation of roadside green belts and pedestrian walkways.
The original road had been in service for more than 18 years. Long-term vehicle load caused pavement cracking, settlement and aging of underground pipelines. The mixed drainage system could not cope with heavy rainfall, and traffic jam frequently occurred during rush hours. To solve these pain points, the design team adjusted the road cross-section layout, expanding the main road from four lanes to six lanes, setting up independent non-motor vehicle lanes and separated pedestrian sidewalks. The old combined drainage pipeline was replaced with independent rainwater and sewage pipes, and a new sponge city facility system including permeable pavement, biological retention ponds and underground regulating storage tanks was built to improve the urban flood control capacity.
